The CCP Discards the Trade Expo Opening Video from The EU Leader

On November 8th, Chinese authorities canceled to play the pre-recorded speech by European Council President Charles Michel at the opening of CCP’s so-called International Import Expo in Shanghai. It gave the reason for the video was to criticize Russia’s “illegal war” in Ukraine and call for reduced E.U. trade dependency on China.

According to Expo’s website, after Xi’s speech, the World Trade Organization’s director general, Indonesia’s president, Sri Lanka’s president, and Belarus’ president also spoke at the ceremony.

Some diplomats, whose names were undisclosed due to the sensitive the matter, expressed their shocking concerns. The President of the European Council is one of the highest-rank officials in the E.U., represents the whole E.U. at the international summits and bilateral summits. China has officially been considered a partner, economic and systemic competitor by the E.U. since 2019. According to a paper published last month by the European External Action Service (EEAS), China should now be seen as a competitor promoting the “New World Order”.
