Japan Sends Fighter Planes And Warships To Monitor CCP Aircraft Carrier’s Maneuvers

On January 2nd, the Japanese government said it had deployed jet fighters and sent aircraft and warships to monitor the Chinese Communist aircraft carrier “Liaoning,” and five other warships conducting naval exercises and flight operations in the Pacific over the past two weeks. Japan’s Defense Ministry said it has been monitoring the actions of a Chinese Communist naval formation, including missile destroyers, since December 16th last year after they sailed from the East China Sea into the waters between the islands of Okinawa and Miyako and entered the Western Pacific Ocean.

The CCP carrier conducted more than 300 takeoffs and landings of fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters before returning on the same path on January 1st. The Defense Ministry did not report any incursions by the CCP Navy into Japanese territorial waters or skies. Japanese sources also reported spotting a flight of a Communist China’s WZ-7 drone near Miyako Island on Sunday; the first time such a high-altitude drone has been spotted in the Japan area.
