FCC Bans Purchase Of Equipment From Eight Companies Of Communist China Including Huawei

It was reported that on November 25, 2022, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted unanimously to authorize U.S. companies to no longer purchase electronic equipment from entities on the U.S. Security Equipment Act list. Those entities include Huawei, ZTE, and seven other companies of Communist China. The U.S. government believes buying electronic products from these companies is too risky and threatens U.S. national security.

The FCC’s latest decision on Friday is considered a decisive step toward curbing companies that spy for CCP, the report said.

FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr announced after the vote that for the first time in the history of the FCC, due to national security concerns, U.S. companies are prohibited from purchasing equipment from Huawei and other electronics companies of Communist China. Carr said the decision closed a loophole that allowed U.S. companies to buy equipment from Huawei and other Communist Chinese electronics companies.

He added the action was taken “with the broad, bipartisan backing of congressional leadership.”
