Russia Launches Another Round Of Attacks On Ukrainian Infrastructure

On Nov 23rd, Moscow launched a new round of missile strike on Kyiv’s energy facilities, paralyzing the cities’ water and electricity supply system as well as the public transport. The attack also disconnected the nuclear plants from the grid, cut off the internet links and caused massive outages in Ukraine’s neighbor Moldova. Moscow’s actions inflicted enormous impact on Ukrainian lives in winter.

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed Ukraine’s UN ambassador to request a Security Council emergency meeting. He said Kyiv will propose a resolution condemning any forms of energy terrorism attack and invite the UN to send experts team to examine and assess Ukraine’s critical infrastructure.

The attacks have reportedly killed dozens of citizens in Kyiv, with more injured. Moreover, a Russian rocket hit the maternity ward of a hospital in southern Ukraine, killed a 2-day-old newborn boy and injured a doctor.

During the security council meeting on the same day, Rosemary DiCarlo, the UN political and peacebuilding affairs chief, called for Russia to immediately cease the attacks that have breached international humanitarian law, saying that Moscow must be held accountable for its violation of laws of war.
