CCP Strengthens Digital Surveillance Through Wider Application Of Electronic ID

According to a November 17th state-media report of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), in response to the policy of accelerating the construction of a cyber powerhouse and a digital Communist China, as proposed in the report of the 20th CCP National Congress, the CCP would expand the use of electronic ID in wider areas.

In recent years, CCP is pushing the importance, security and convenience of the electronic ID card. Under the slogan of enhancing people-friendly services, the CCP has vigorously adapted the use of electronic ID for personal activities in finance, education, healthcare, pension and taxation.

The CCP boasted that personal data of the electronic ID is well encrypted and protected, and its usage records are kept intact. But people still question the security of electronic information. The CCP not only can steal people’ information, but could also conduct online identity fraud at will. Previously, unauthorized remote login of WeChat user accounts has sparked a nationwide outcry in the Communist China.
