Blinken Says CCP Refuses To Accept Status Quo in Taiwan Situation

On October 26, U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Communist China has decided not to accept the status quo in the Taiwan situation and has begun to exert pressure on Taiwan, including the possible use of force. Blinken further said that for decades, the United States and Communist China have been maintaining the basic understanding that any difference upon on Taiwan would be handled peacefully. But now Communist China has fundamentally changed.

“What has changed is: the decision by the government in Beijing that that status quo was no longer acceptable, that they wanted to speed up the process by which they would pursue reunification,” Blinken said.

In Xi’s report to the 20th Congress on October 16, Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping proposed accelerating the building of a world-class military and said he would never abandon the use of force to resolve the Taiwan issue. Earlier this week, Blinken said that the CCP is determined to accelerate taking over Taiwan.
