Communist China Might Invade Taiwan Sooner Than Anticipated, Navy Pushes Readiness

According to some media reports, Admiral Mike Gilday, the chief of US navy operations, said at the Atlantic Council on Oct 19th that as Communist China and Russia became increasingly aggressive, the US navy has adopted a “fight tonight” mentality, which means the navy must get well-prepared and become more lethal for an earlier-than-expected conflict.

After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader Xi Jinping reportedly stated at the 20th National Congress this week that Communist China reserved the option to take all necessary measures to reunify with Taiwan, US State Secretary Antony Blinken said that the CCP may take actions “on a much faster timeline” than previously expected.

Gilday made no specific comments on Xi’s remarks, but based on his experience over the past two decades, he said, “They have delivered on every promise they’ve made earlier than they said they were going to deliver on it.” However, some officers of US military previously believed Communist China might attempt to annex Taiwan by 2027.

Gilday said the CCP likely accelerates timeline, and the US navy might rush to join the fight while they are not “lethal, capable and ready to win.” That is what he tries to avoid, so the navy has to get ready for a battle at any minute.
