Xi Jinping Says CCP Will Never Promise to Give Up Force During 20th National Congress

The 20th National Congress of Communist China started at 10 o’clock on October 16th morning. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of Communist China, stepped into the venue and took a seat in the first row, while former General Secretary Hu Jintao sat on Xi Jinping’s left. The appearance of the 20th National Congress has attracted global attention. Xi Jinping may break the traditional three-term re-election and will continue to remain as chairman in the next five years. All walks of life predict that Xi Jinping intends to stay in power for life.

The Xinhua News Agency, the official media of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), also recently announced that the Standing Committee of the 20th National Congress consists of 46 members. The first eight are Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang and the other seven current Politburo Standing Committee members, as well as Wang Qishan, Vice Chairman of the CCP Central Committee. Then there are Jiang Zemin, Hu Jintao, Zhu Rongji, Li Ruihuan, Wu Bangguo, Wen Jiabao and other retired members of the Standing Committee of the CCP Political Bureau. The opening ceremony was staged in the morning at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, and Xi Jinping’s speech on Taiwan also drew attention.

In his speech at the 20th National Congress, Xi Jinping mentioned that “solving the Taiwan issue is the responsibility of the Chinese people,” stressing that he will strive for the prospect of “peaceful reunification” with the greatest sincerity and efforts, but Xi Jinping also stated that “we will never promise to give up the use of force, reserve the option of taking all necessary measures.”
