The CCP Outrages over German Bundestag Visit to Taiwan

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) interferes other countries’ internal affairs to protest the German Bundestag members’ visit to Taiwan and urges Germany to abide by the one-China principle and immediately stop associating with “Taiwan Independence” activists and threats to take “necessary measures.”

A delegation consisting of six German Bundestag members left on October 1st and arrived in Taiwan on October 2nd for a 5-day visit. The delegation consisted of six German parties, expressing German cross-party support for Taiwan. The Bundestag members received a high reception and will meet with Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen, as well as Vice President William Lai Ching-te, Legislative President You Si-kun, and Foreign Minister Wu Jau-shieh.

The German delegation said that their visit was aimed at assessing the security situation on the ground in Taiwan and gaining a general understanding for the country’s economic and political development. The German government press office stated on Friday (September 30th), the delegation would examine “the issues related to the political, economic and social situation, and bilateral relations and developments on both sides of Taiwan Strait.”

Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry declared that Taiwan and Germany are the permanent partners in sharing the values of freedom, democracy, rule of law and human rights, and jointly defend the rule-based international order.
