CCP Tries to Prevent Food Crisis in Extreme Weather

According to media reports, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) ordered relevant authorities on August 22nd to take action against the weather crisis to prevent the ongoing heatwave and drought from destroying most of the autumn grain harvests in southern China. It was noted that the near-wipeout autumn grain harvest accounts for 75% of China’s annual grain output.

The record-breaking heatwave has caused drought conditions in much of central and southern China since June.

Mid-to-late August is a critical period for the growth of autumn grains in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, and continued heat waves and drought will reduce the yields of crops such as corn and soybeans. Drought and electricity shortages in southern China may affect the country’s overall food supply.

The Chinese government has allocated about 300 million yuan, or about $44 million, to drought and disaster relief, propaganda agencies claim.
