Latvia and Estonia Withdraw from Cooperation With Communist China

Latvia and Estonia withdrew from the China cooperation group on Thursday as the Chinese Communist regime ramped up military pressure on Taiwan and deepened its ties with Russia, which has started a war of aggression against Ukraine.

The two countries follow in the footsteps of their Baltic neighbour Lithuania, which ceased to cooperate with China last year.

Relations between Lithuania and Communist China have soured after Lithuania allowed Taiwan to open an embassy in the country last year and it also supports US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan. China has accused the Baltic NATO countries of violating the One-China Principle as “erroneous”.

Croatia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia are some of the countries still in China’s cooperation arrangements.

Both Latvia and Estonia said in comments on Thursday that they would continue to pursue a “constructive and pragmatic relationship with China” while maintaining a rules-based global order and human rights.

Criticism of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in Western democracies has risen in recent days amid the fact that China has escalated its military threat to democratically ruled Taiwan.

According to the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Latvia’s continued membership of the China group is no longer in line with its strategic objectives in the current international environment.

Latavia recently passed a vote on Thursday recognizing Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism while calling on other like-minded nations to do the same.

Latvian MPs also declared that Russia’s actions in Ukraine amounted to targeted genocide against the Ukrainian people.

However, from the exposed intelligence of the Chinese Whistleblower Movement, the CCP is likely planning to do the same thing on Taiwan as what Russia has been doing in Ukraine – targeted genocide against Ukraine people. Providing it’s bad track record, the CCP is going to be way more atrocious than Russia if it successfully occupy Taiwan.
