European Largest Nuclear Power Plant is in Great Danger

It is reported on Aug 12th, Rafael Grossi, the director general of the U.N. International Atomic Energy Agency, warned on Thursday that the situation at Europe’s largest nuclear power plant in southeastern Ukraine is “very alarming”. Military activity in the region could have very dangerous consequences in a nuclear incident and called on Russia to stop attacks on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear facility under its control.

Rafael also appealed Russia to immediately allow nuclear experts to assess the damage and safety of the plant. He pointed to the shelling and several explosions in Zaporizhzhia last Friday, that shut down the power transformer and two backup transformers, forcing closure a nuclear reactor.

Ukrainian President Zelensky previously said no country in the world would feel safe when terrorist states fire on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. He also called on the international community to impose sanctions on Russia’s nuclear industry and nuclear fuel.
