Japan to Launch Omicron-targeted Vaccination in October

According to a report on August 8th, Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) decides to launch another vaccination campaign against the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Virus (COVID-19) as early as October, saying that the vaccine has been improved to be effective countering the Omicron strain.

Japan’s MHLW announced at a special committee meeting today that it has been approved to start vaccinating citizens as early as October due to the possible importation of the vaccine by the end of September. The target group for vaccination is identified as the elderly and those at high risk of other serious illnesses, and preparations are underway to potentially vaccinate everyone who has completed the first and second jabs based on the future investigation.

COVID vaccine currently being promoted in Japan was based on the virus from the early stages of the outbreak in Wuhan, Communist China, which was considered to have limited efficacy against the Omicron strain. Pfizer and Moderna were developing a new and improved vaccine that is claimed to be effective against the Omicron strain in addition to the early-stage virus.
