Pelosi’s Visit to Taiwan is Full of Praise and Support but Infuriates CCP

U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi left Taiwan on Wednesday after promising solidarity and praise for democracy. It leaves a trail of Chinese anger in her brief visit to the self-ruled island that Beijing claims as its own, according to Reuters on August 3rd.
The Chinese Communist Party(CCP) has expressed anger over the highest-level U.S. visit to the island in 25 years, conducting a series of military operations in surrounding waters, summoning the U.S. ambassador in Beijing, and halting some agricultural imports from Taiwan.
According to Taiwan’s Defence Ministry, some of Communist China’s planned military exercises were to take place within 12 nautical miles of Taiwan’s air and sea territory. It is an unprecedented move. A senior defense official described it to reporters as “amounting to a sea and air blockade of Taiwan”.
Pelosi arrived late on Tuesday with a congressional delegation on an unannounced but closely watched visit. She defied the repeated warnings from CCP and demonstrated the United States’ unwavering commitment to Taiwan’s democracy.
The eyes of the world were on U.S. House Speaker Pelosi. The moment she stepped down the hanging stairs in her pink suit, how thrilled the people of Taiwan were that this was the day Taiwan could finally be rightfully on the world’s political stage after decades of living under the intimidation of the CCP. Pelosi’s infinite praise and support for Taiwan also gave Taiwan more confidence.
