The Swamp” Pushed Biden to “Go Forward”

According to Reuters news on June 24, six Republican senators asked U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen about the Biden administration’s ongoing national security review of the social media platform Tik Tok.

The U.S. Government’s Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) is responsible for reviewing whether there are potential national security risks in the transactions of foreign acquirers. The committee ordered the Chinese parent company ByteDance to divest Tik Tok in 2020 because of concerns that U.S. user data may be collected by the Chinese Communist government.

Six senators, including Tom Cotton, raised numerous questions to Yellen, saying the administration “has seemingly done nothing to enforce” the August 2020 divestiture order. They also noted that “the results of the security reviews, likewise, have not been publicly released after one year”.

The senators also raised three questions: 1. Is Tik Tok’s operation team in the United States? 2. Does the U.S. government have the ability to regularly access and check the source code of algorithms? 3. How does the U.S. government ensure the security of Tik Tok user data and privacy?

Sources said that CFIUS has been holding extensive discussions with Tik Tok on security issues. A spokesperson for Yellen declined to comment on Friday. As the saying goes, “A monk can run away, but the temple remains”

All the above happened just a few days after Mr. Miles Guo’s meeting with the Swamp during which the Swamp has told him to “live and die with us”, it’s not hard to see the reason behind it. Everything has already begun!
