CCP Seeks Economic Solutions to Counter Global Sanctions For Its Foreseeable Attack of Taiwan

According to media reports, Communist China President Xi Jinping’s intention to invade Taiwan has become increasingly obvious. Gao Xiang, a history scholar with a propaganda background, was appointed president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in December last year, leading to speculation that the move might be CCP’s intention to control public opinion after attacking Taiwan. It is known that Gao Xiang was the deputy director of the Office of the Central Leading Group for Cybersecurity and Informatization, who used to serve as the director of the Fujian Provincial Propaganda Department from 2016 to 2017, and was familiar with publicity affairs in the Taiwan Strait.

In August 2022, the Chinese Academy of History, led by Gao Xiang, published an article in support of the Qing dynasty’s “”closed-door”” policy, saying that the approach of isolation from the international community at that time was not only to “”maintain self-sufficiency through agriculture and household handicraft industry,”” but also to defend against invaders, which had national security significance.

In addition, Gao Xiang was ordered to convene historical and economic researchers to continue to study how China should respond to the impact of economic sanctions in the event of a war with Taiwan. History researchers are tasked with helping Beijing find plausible excuses to persuade the public and control public opinion, while economics researchers are tasked with formulating economic strategies that keep the communist regime alive to the illusion of prosperity. With the domestic economic and political environment on the verge of collapse, Mr. Xi’s attempt to use academic research professionals to control public opinion within the party appears to be finally working.
