Japanese PM Says Allies Must Act In Concert Against The CCP

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said in a speech at Johns Hopkins University of Advanced International Studies on Friday that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is a central threat to Japan and the United States, so the two nations must act united with European allies to counter the CCP, media reported on January 14th.

Kishida said, “The international community is at a historical turning point: the free, open and stable international order that we have dedicated ourselves to upholding is now in grave danger.” Communist China’s vision for the international order differs from the views of Japan and America in some ways that the allies “can never accept.” He stressed that the international community would not allow any attempt to change the international status quo by force, and they would enhance their deterrence.

In addition, Kishida reiterated Japan’s concern about the CCP’s military activity in the East China Sea and around the Senkaku Islands and the launch of ballistic missiles that landed in waters near Japan last year. It is known that Japan announced last month the nation is to build the largest military force since World War II in response to Beijing’s threat in that region.
