CCP Censors COVID Statistics, Experts Estimate Daily Infection At One Million

According to reports, on December 22nd, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) abruptly canceled the draconian “Zero-COVID” pandemic control policy, and stopped large-scale testing and asymptomatic cases reporting, in response to protests demanding the government to step down. Health data firm Airfinity estimates that more than 5,000 people in China may die from the virus every day, contrary to Chinese government’s reports. The U.K.-based company claims it used modeling based on regional data in mainland China, which also shows that the country is now seeing more than one million daily infections. Airfinity said in a statement, “in stark contrast to the official data which is reporting 1,800 cases and only seven official deaths over the past week.” CCP’s National Health Commission did not immediately respond to requests for comment. On Thursday, the Chinese government reported no COVID deaths and 2,966 new local cases on December 21st. A senior World Health Organization official said Wednesday that Chinese authorities might be actively counting COVID infection after experiencing a surge in cases. Airfinity’s mortality risk analysis estimates that between 1.3 million and 2.1 million people might die in this outbreak in mainland China. Research by other modeling groups also predicted as many as 2.1 million deaths.

Airfinity estimates that there may be two peaks in this wave of infections, currently in areas where cases are surging, such as Beijing and southern Guangdong, with an estimated 3.7 million infections per day in mid-January and expected 4.2 million infections per day in March in other provinces.
