U.S. Debuts B-21 Raider Nuclear Stealth Bomber to Counter CCP’s Threat

The U.S. Defense Department unveils its newest stealth bomber, the B-21 Raider which made its debut in Palmdale, California, on December 2. It is the first new bomber developed by the U.S. in more than three decades and serves as a strategic weapon for the U.S. to counter Communist China’s military threat. The bomber is reportedly part of Pentagon’s effort to modernize its three pillars of nuclear strike forces, including silo-launched nuclear ballistic missiles, submarine-launched nuclear warheads, and strategic bombers. At present, the U.S. military is in the process of shifting from a counterterrorism campaign in response to Communist China’s rapidly growing military power. In its annual report about Communist China released this week, the Pentagon noted that Beijing is planning to make progress in key areas such as Hypersonics, cyber warfare, space capabilities and other areas that constitute a significant systemic challenge to U.S. national security and a free and open international system. According to the U.S. military’s projection, Beijing’s nuclear weapons will increase from the current hundreds to 1,500 in the next decade or so. While the main technical performance of this bomber remains confidential, disclosed information indicates that this bomber will have the ability to fly in unmanned mode and its stealth performance has been significantly improved due to the use of the latest technology and materials. The U.S. Air Force plans to buy 100 B-21 Raiders to deploy nuclear or conventional bombs, according to some sources. There are currently six B-21 bombers in production. Although the cost has not been released, the average price of each B-21 bomber is about $750 million based on the quotes from the US Air Force.
