Finnish Prime Minister Condemns EU’s Courting Putin and Relying on CCP

In a speech after her first visit to Australia and New Zealand On December 2nd, Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin said that the EU’s defense capabilities are not strong enough and unable to stand up to Moscow alone without the support of the U.S., while also warning the EU against relying on Communist China.

Sanna Marin said that Europe was importing energy from Russia for a long time and established close economic ties with Kremlin that they thought would prevent war; however, this strategy has been proven entirely wrong. She also said that the EU should have listened to the Baltic and Polish friends much sooner. When talking about the relationship between Brussels and Beijing, she said the EU has to avoid dependence on Communist China in critical fields, warning that their dependencies would put the EU at a disadvantage in many important areas.
