Biden Going to Visit TSMC’s Arizona Facility

It was reported that U.S. President Joe Biden is going to visit Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturer TSMC’s Arizona facility on December 6 to attend its “tool-in” ceremony. The plant is TSMC’s first chip factory established in the U.S. at a cost of $12 billion.

During his visit, Biden will promote the development of the U.S. semiconductor manufacturing industry and the reconstruction of the U.S. supply chain which will help to create more jobs domestically.

TSMC founder Morris Chang, chairman Liu Deyin, and CEO Wei Zhejia will also attend the ceremony.

Two years ago, TSMC initiated the plan to build a semiconductor factory in Arizona. According to the plan, the first phase of the factory can produce 20,000 advanced 5-nanometer chips per month, and mass production will be achieved in 2024; eventually, they will build a second factory in Arizona to design and produce advanced 3-nanometer chips.
