North Korea Rejects Economic Aid from South Korea

Kim Jong Un’s powerful sister Kim Yo Jong said on Friday that North Korea will never respond to the “audacious” plan proposed by the South Korea. This plan aims at promoting North Korea’s economy for its nuclear disarmament in exchange.

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol said in May: “In partnership with the international community, I am prepared to present an audacious plan that will vastly strengthen its economy and improve the quality of life for its people.”

On Wednesday, his 100th day in office, Yoon Suk-yeol reiterated his willingness to provide North Korea with phased economic aids if it ends its nuclear weapons development and take steps towards denuclearization.

Kim Yo Jong said in a statement by KCNA that this plan is absurd, and the premise of getting North Korea to adopt denuclearization is just wrong. She also called him “really simple and still childish” for having the idea that he could trade for North Korea’s nuclear weapons via economic cooperation

She also said if this “audacious” plan doesn’t work, I’m not sure what crazy scheme he would have to knock on our door, but “We make it clear that we will not sit face to face with him,”
