Beijing Forgave Debts from 17 African Countries, Public Enraged

On August 19th, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in a video conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation that the CCP will forgive interest-free loan debts due by the end of 2021 from 17 African countries, and continue to advance the Belt and Road Initiative.

The public were in an uproar after the news was released, and angry voices flooded the internet. The main points of the comments from the public are: first, the country still has difficulty feeding its population, while providing tremendous external assistance to foreign countries; second, there is no compensation and reward from patriotism; and third, African students live in single rooms with huge subsidies and sleep with Chinese female classmates, while Chinese students squeeze into eight-bed or ten-bed rooms without air conditioning and are not allowed to complain.

Some internet celebrities insisted on praising the CCP, saying that in the case of Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, the United States has clearly become the opposite of communist China. If the communist regime does not unite with Africa, it will be isolated in the world.
