EU Official Talks about the Self-Destruction of CCP

Joerg Wuttke, the President of the EU Chamber of Commerce in China, warned the world in an interview a few days ago that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is entering a self-destruction mode.

Wuttke said that he has witnessed many crises in China over the past 40 years, including the June 4th incident in 1989, SARS in 2003, the global economic crisis in 2008, and even earlier the Asian financial crisis in 1997. But this time, the CCP’s “Zero-COVID” Policy would make matters much more worse.

He had sent a letter to Chinese Vice Premier Hu Chunhua in April, pointing out that the pandemic prevention measures had severely disrupted the operations of European companies in China. He said in the letter that massive test and lockdowns are ineffective in combating the spread of the Omicron variant, and urged Beijing to adjust policies accordingly, but he received no response. He was very concerned that the CCP would rather suffer from economic blows and still stick to the ineffective policy.

EU companies have not obtained the market access that the CCP promised. In many cases, EU companies “have their nose against the window” and watch the economic development in Communist China, but they cannot participate due to market access denial, Wuttke added.

He criticized that EU policymakers have long been too naive in its relationship with the Chinese regime, and should work together with the United States to demand that Beijing honor the various commitments it made when joining the WTO. The commitments include giving foreign companies the same level of market access that Chinese companies have enjoyed abroad for years.
