300 TikTok Employees Work for CCP’s Propaganda Arm

A report compiled by the media after reviewing the LinkedIn profiles of public employees revealed that about 300 current employees of TikTok and its parent company ByteDance previously worked for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)’s state media publication.
It is found that 49 LinkedIn accounts of former CCTV and CGTN worker is employed by TikTok and ByteDance.
One of them is the former editor-in-chief of CCTV, the current head of ByteDance media content cooperation, and the international market operator of ByteDance. According to his biography, he is still the editor of CCTV.According to reports, the LinkedIn profiles of ByteDance and TikTok employees show that their current responsibilities include content cooperation, strategy, policy, public relations, monetization and “media cooperation.”Current ByteDance executives have created 23 such accounts, which control divisions that oversee content partnerships, public affairs, corporate social responsibility and “media collaboration.”At least 15 current ByteDance employees indicated that they worked for both the IT business and state media at the same time.
According to the report, 15 workers indicated that current ByteDance employees are also employed by official the CCP’s state media entities, including Xinhua News Agency, China Radio International and China Global Television.
The report found that “TikTok’s parent company ByteDance has strong ties to the CCP government’s propaganda arm, which has been using social media extensively to spread disinformation in support of the CCP.”
