The US to Unveil Roadmap for Taiwan Trade Negotiations

Kurt Campbell, White House Indo-Pacific Coordinator, said the US will announce a roadmap for US-Taiwan trade negotiations in the coming days.

The US will not be deterred and will continue to support Taiwan and its partners as Beijing continues its provocative behavior. The US will continue to take calm and decisive steps to maintain peace and stability and to support Taiwan by following the long-standing US policy. Campbell said that the USS Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group has been instructed to remain in place (of Taiwan Strait). The US will also deepen its relationship with Taiwan, including continuing to foster economic and trade ties. Campbell also reaffirmed the continued commitment of the US to the Taiwan Relations Act, including supporting Taiwan’s self-defense and maintaining US capabilities to defend itself against any force or other form of coercion that could endanger Taiwan’s security.
