Tesla to Build Factory in Canada to Decouple from China

According to a report on August 9th, Tesla is working with the Ontario Government in a plan to build the first super factory for the production of electric vehicles in Ontario, so as to form a stable electric vehicle supply chain in North America.

In response, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said at the recent shareholder meeting that he will announce the establishment of a new factory by the end of this year, and will eventually build 10-12 super factories in Canada. At present, in addition to having two factories in the U.S., Tesla has also set up production bases in Germany and China.

After the U.S. Senate approved a bill two days ago to limit the use of materials made in China and significantly increase the proportion of North American-made battery components, vehicles with batteries made in China will no longer be eligible for credit funding. Therefore, U.S. electric vehicle manufacturers are finding new sources of materials and building factories in Canada, the closest to the U.S., to completely wean themselves off Communist China.
