U.S. Senate: Wuhan Institute of Virus Research on Deadly Terrorist Biological Formulation

According to a report on August 9th, recent Senate testimony shows that the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in China, where the Covid-19 pandemic may have started, conducted research on a deadly virus with a 60% lethality rate.

Steven Quay, an M.D., informed the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Subcommittee about the new threat. The WIV conducted a synthetic biology study of the Nipah virus (NIV) genome in December 2019, when the first case of Covid-19 emerged in Wuhan. Scientists are still divided over whether the novel coronavirus emerged naturally through animals or could be traced to a leak or accident at the WIV.

Dr. Quay testified that the NIV was in an infectious clone format, “Nipah is a BSL-4 level pathogen and a CDC-designated bioterrorism formulation. This is the most dangerous gain-of-function research I have ever encountered. We should assume this research continues to this day at the WIV”, he added.

If the aforementioned claims are confirmed, the Chinese Communist Party’s research on the NIV could have violated the Biological Weapons Convention, to which Beijing authorities is a signatory. The convention prohibits research on agents that could be used as biological weapons.
