Former Japanese Defense Minister Shigeru Ishiba Makes Official Visit to Taiwan

It is reported on July 27th that a delegation of Japanese legislators from the ruling party and the opposition who work on security issues have left for Taiwan to share opinions with the Taiwanese government on potential emergencies, as Communist China exerts increasing military pressure on its neighbors.
The previous Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Defense Minister Shigeru Ishiba, Yasukazu Hamada and other members of Japan’s parliamentary security caucus are members of the delegation that visits Taiwan.
The delegation intends to meet with President Tsai Ing-wen in addition to speaking with military authorities on the security situation across the Taiwan Strait.
According to Shigeru Ishiba, the visit’s main goal is to engage in a discussion about “what we can do to prevent conflict in the region”.
President Tsai Ing-wen visited a large-scale military drill yesterday in Taiwan, which is being performed under the assumption that the Communist China forces will land on the island.
