Musk: Court Should Reject Twitter’s “Unreasonable Request”

Elon Musk’s lawyers filed a motion in Delaware’s Court of Chancery on Friday, July 15, seeking to block the court from fast-track a trial on the $44 billion acquisition of Twitter. Musk believes that the court should reject Twitter’s “unreasonable request”. This is Musk’s first public response to the lawsuit filed by Twitter.

Previously, Twitter had pushed for an expedited trial to force Musk to complete the acquisition in mid-September, citing the risks posed by the recent economic downturn. However, Musk asked the court to hold the trial on or later than February 13th, 2023.

Twitter formally filed a lawsuit in the Delaware Court of Chancery, where the company is registered, on Tuesday, asking the court to order Musk to complete his $44 billion agreement to buy the company. The world’s richest man officially announced the termination of the acquisition just three days ago, citing Twitter’s breach of contract.
