CCP Leader Xi Jinping Makes Show Visit to Xinjiang

Many countries worldwide have expressed concern over the imprisonment of the Uyghur minority in Xinjiang, located in northwestern China. Chinese Communist Party’s leader Xi Jinping made a show of visit in response this week.

The official CCP news claimed that Xi emphasized executing the CCP’s policies in Xinjiang and underlined that focusing on social stability and continuing security was the Party’s initial goal.

Xinjiang has received worldwide attention, and the U.S. and many European countries have severely criticized CCP’s practices and stopped imports of various products from Xinjiang to protest against the detention and forced labor of the Uyghur community. Nonetheless, during this visit, Xi Jinping stressed about the maintenance of social order and the firm implementation of CCP’s policies, without showing any signs of abandonment of the current order.

During this visit, staged photographs were showing seemingly harmonious scenes. Xi claimed that Xinjiang is a “core area and a hub” and that it will develop into a united, harmonious, and prosperous place. However, this is CCP’s usual propaganda technique.

In fact, over the past few years, many journalists have visited the Uyghur concentration camps unannounced, but many have been stopped outside and unable to get close to the camps. Some of the interviews we saw were just prearranged performances.

The Chinese Communist Party imposed a militarized management system in Xinjiang after coming to power in 1949. According to informed sources, Uyghurs are forced to give up their language, religious beliefs, and traditional customs, and any continuation is considered illegal.
