Biden Enhances U.S. Military Presence in Europe to Russian Threats

On June 29th, President Biden stated at the NATO summit that the U.S. would boost its land, sea, and air military deployments across Europe in response to Russian military threats.

It is reported that the plan mainly includes a brigade of 3000 combat troops in Romania, two squadrons of F-35 fighters in the U.K., two navy destroyers in Spain, as well as a permanent base for the U.S. Fifth Army Corps in Poland.

According to Secretary-General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg, amid the most severe security crisis confronting the world since WWII, NATO will complete the biggest overhaul of the collective defense strategy during this summit.

In addition, a revised NATO Strategic Concept issued on the same day officially recognized that Russia posed the most significant threat to allies’ security and sounded a stern warning about the ambitions and coercive policies of the Chinese Communist Party as well as its “deepening strategic partnership” with Russia.
