CCP Undermines Regional Peace, Signs Security Agreement with Solomon Islands

On the 30th that the Australian government confirmed the authenticity of a leaked document, which revealed that Communist China will sign a security agreement with the Solomon Islands. The agreement is believed to help the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) open the door to the Pacific Island country and assist the PLA’s warships to enter the area. According to the document, the reason for requesting the CCP to send the PLA into the region was to “maintain social order.” After the document came to light, it aroused vigilance from around the world that the Pacific region had been seized by the CCP.

Solomon Islands agree on security treaty with China

Charles Edel, the Australia Chair at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, said on Friday that this is a serious issue for the United States and a major cause of concern for our allies and partners. To build a military base in the Solomon Islands by a strategic opponent will significantly weaken Australia’s and New Zealand’s security, increase the opportunities for local corruption, and increase the potential for resource exploitation.

The agreement is currently in a draft form. However, after it is signed, Solomon Islands Prime Minister Manasseh Sogaware will have the right to request the Chinese Communist Party to protect the government of the Solomon Islands and provide the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) with a base located between the United States and Australia.
