US Propose New Measures to Block Communist China from Accessing Advanced Semiconductor

On March 21st, Google suspended PDD Holdings Inc’s Pinduoduo app for security concerns and launched an investigation, after finding malware in Play Store versions of the app, according to multiple media reports. “Google Play Protect enforcement has been set to block installation attempts of these identified malicious apps,” a Google spokesperson said. “Users that have malicious versions of the app downloaded to their devices are warned and prompted to uninstall the app.”Google Play Protect scans all of the apps on Android phones and works to prevent the installation of malicious apps.

All these happened amid the efforts by the U.S. government to bolster its cyber defenses in the face of a steady increase in hacking and digital crimes targeting the country. The government recently announced a new cybersecurity strategy that lists Communist China and Russia as the biggest cybersecurity threats to the United States.

“We are communicating with Google for more information. We have been told that there are several other apps that have been suspended as well,” said a Pinduoduo spokesperson.
