On February 28th, the “China Task Force” of the United States House of Representatives held its first public hearing.
The Task Force is composed of members of both the Republican and Democratic parties. Lawmakers emphasized the “existential” threat posed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and called for a coordinated response from the US government.
During the hearing, the committee’s chief Democratic federal representative, Raja Krishnamoorthy (D-IL), addressed the various threats posed by the CCP to the United States. He urged the US to invest in high-tech fields, promote the development of manufacturing, deter CCP provocations, and strengthen America’s alliances and global partnerships.
Furthermore, he emphasized the need for bipartisanship and unity in dealing with the CCP and called for all efforts to avoid prejudice and discrimination against Chinese or Asian Americans.
