U.S. Announces Another $600 Million Aid For Ukraine

On Sept. 15, a White House memo to the State Department said President Biden announced a new $600 million aid package for Ukraine.

Biden reportedly authorized the assistance by exercising the president’s Drawdown Authority, which allows the president to transfer surplus weapons from U.S. stockpiles.

The Pentagon said the weapons in this assistance program include the High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), night vision goggles, claymore mines, mine clearing equipment, 105mm artillery rounds, and 155mm precision-guided artillery rounds. The U.S. will continue to work with its allies and partners to meet Ukraine’s evolving battlefield requirements.

The memo also mentioned that in addition to weapons, this new aid program for Ukraine includes military training and related services to Ukraine. To date, the United States has provided $15 billion worth of military assistance to Ukraine.
