Russian Troops Fleeing from Ukraine in Panic

On September 15th, the U.K. intelligence service said in the daily briefing that some of Moscow’s troops were retreating from Ukraine in panic due to a breakdown in its command and control systems. The UK Ministry of Defense noted that Russian forces withdrew in different ways last week. Some troops retreated in relative order, while others dropped their weapons and supplies and fled in apparent panic. The high-value items abandoned by retreating Russian forces included capabilities essential to enable Russia’s artillery-centric style of warfare. Amongst these are at least one ZOOPARK counter-battery radar system and one IV14 artillery command and control system.

Since the major counter-offensive launched earlier this month, Ukraine has made significant progress in the northern region of Kharkiv. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said about 400 cities and towns have been liberated, including strategically important towns such as Izium. The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine claimed on Sep. 15th that Kyiv’s troops captured or destroyed 100 tanks in its 100-hour eastward campaign this week and destroyed more than 2,000 tanks, 4,600 armored vehicles, 1,300 artillery missiles launchers and 900 drones since Putin waged the aggressive war.
