According to forecast by the Meteorological Department of Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, the average rainfall in Jiujiang in September was less than the same period of the previous year, and the drought is expected to continue.

The drought disaster has been affecting the agricultural production and more than one million people in 83 counties and cities in Jiangxi when Poyang entered the dry season in August. Jiangxi is one of the thirteen major grain-producing provinces in the country, of which around Poyang Lake is the key.
