PLA’s Military Drone crossed Taiwan’s Air Defense Zone

People’s Liberation Army’s military reconnaissance drone entered Taiwan’s air defense zone on Monday for the first time.

The military drone, BZK-007, crossed the island’s air defense identification zone (ADIZ) along with eight PLA warplanes. Compared to Taiwan’s airspace, its ADIZ is much larger and overlaps with part of China’s ADIZ.

Communist China has increased its incursion on Taiwan’s ADIZ for the past two years and aggressively performed military drills after U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan. Even though there were incursions in the past, the use of military drones is rare.

A few commercial drones have been crossing Taiwan’s airspace for the past few weeks. And after giving repeated warnings, Taiwanese soldiers shot down an unidentified commercial drone couple of days ago. BZK-007 is a much bigger drone built by the Guizhou Aircraft Corporation compared to those commercial drones.

Taiwan’s citizens are living under constant fear of invasion by Communist China, which they claim as their integral part of the territory and vow to take it by force if required. Beijing’s psychological warfare against Taiwan increased under President Xi Jinping, an unremarkable provincial administrator who became China’s most authoritarian leader since Mao Zedong.
