Henan Rural Banks Customers Still Unable to Withdraw Money

On July 15th, Henan Rural Banks promised that customers who have a deposit below $50,000 Yuan could withdraw money by logging into “Village bank advance payment,” a WeChat applet. However, many clients complained that the app encountered system bugs. They were still unable to withdraw money.

According to a report, Henan Rural Banks started advance payments to customers with a combined amount of a maximum $50,000 Yuan savings from July 15th. Qualified customers must login to Village Bank Advance Payment WeChat Applet for withdrawal. However, many customers claimed that the applet had issue like denying the users’ ID, showing messages of wrong username or phone number being unregistered in this batch, and more. Therefore, depositors were skeptical that the Rural Bank went back on their words and purposefully delayed the advance payment. One client said with huge frustration, “Banks have all of our personal information in their back-office, but they still request us to re-provide now. They are just bluffing us!”During the customer protests days ago, Zhengzhou police’s violent suppression attracted much public attention. Under such high stressful pressure, Henan Banking and Insurance Regulatory Bureau and the Henan Provincial Local Financial Supervision Bureau had to outline the plans to make advance payments by classification and batches to customers of 4 rural banks. These banks included Yuzhou Xinminsheng Village Bank, Shangcai Huimin Village bank, Tuocheng Huanghuai Village bank, and Kaifeng Xin Dong Fang Village bank.
