On July 13th, news came out from the North Korean embassy in Moscow, Russia that North Korea has announced the recognition of pro-Russian armed groups in eastern Ukraine “Donetsk People’s Republic” and “Luhansk People’s Republic” as independent states.
As early as late June, the Assad regime in Syria, backed by Putin’s regime, also announced its recognition of the two so-called “republics.”
On July 13th, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video address that “We will respond very rigorously at all levels.”
On July 14th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine issued a statement announcing the severance of diplomatic relations with Syria and North Korea.
