Russian Ambassador: Ukraine Must Reach Agreement or “Keep Sliding Down The Mountain”

Russia’s UK ambassador said it is unlikely that Russia will withdraw from Ukraine’s southern coast.

Andrei Kelin also told the media that his country would defeat the Ukrainian troops in the eastern Donbas region.

“We will liberate all Donbas people,” Mr. Kelin said.

“Of course, it is difficult to predict the withdrawal of our troops from southern Ukraine, because we have already experienced because we’ve already experienced post-withdrawal provocations, everyone being shot and so on.

Russia and Ukraine each accuse the other of killing civilians in the Donbas region.

The media said Mr. Kelin’s words showed how Russia views a possible final phase in Ukraine – essentially a forced partition, which would make Ukraine lose one fifth of its post-Soviet territory.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he would not agree to any agreement involving the loss of territory.

Mr. Kelin said that sooner or later Ukraine would have to decide whether to reach a peace agreement with Russia or “Keep sliding down the mountain” to destruction.
