UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on 30th local time , UK will ” not give up on Hong Kong” amid the 25th anniversary of the handover of Hong Kong’s sovereignty to the Communist China. He also said, the UK will abide by its promises and do its best to make Communist China keep its promises.
Johnson stressed, the UK will not give up on Hong Kong, because twenty-five years ago the UK made a promise to Hong Kong and Hong Kongers. Now it intends to preserve it, and will do everything in its power to make sure that Communist China keeps its promises and re-implement Hong kongers’ autonomy.
In a statement, UK Foreign Secretary Truss denounced “the steady erosion of civil and political rights” in Hong Kong, particularly since the national security law was issued on June 30th, 2020. the Hong Kong authorities have cracked down the opposition, criminalized dissidents, and suppressed all those who dare to speak the truth.
