The US Announces New Military Aid to Ukraine May Include Armed Drones

On June 1, US President Joe Biden announced a new $700 million weapons package for Ukraine, including high mobility artillery rocket systems that can accurately hit targets up to 80 kilometers away, rocket ammunition, Anti-Artillery Radar systems, Air surveillance radar systems, anti-tank missiles, as well as anti-armor weapons. The missiles will not be used to strike targets within Russian territory, according to US officials.
In addition, the US is planning to sell Ukraine four MQ-1C Gray Eagle drones that can patrol in the air for more than 30 hours to gather data and intelligence, as well as carry up to eight powerful Hellfire missiles to strike enemy targets. The Biden administration intends to notify Congress of the potential sale in the coming days, with a public announcement to follow.
