On May 27, several Biden administration officials said that the United States is planning to send advanced long-range rocket launch systems to Ukraine. This weapon system is the most advanced system requested by Ukrainian officials.
On Thursday, Ukrainian Defense Ministry released a video of Ukrainian defensive positions being bombarded by Russian militaries in the Donbass region. The Ukrainian military can be seen ready to counter attack but were short of long-range firing capabilities. The Diplomatic Chairman of the Ukrainian parliament also appealed to the media that long-range rocket systems are needed to safe-guard civilians and the military because the Russians are using long range artillery ruthlessly.
Officials in the Biden administration have stated that the latest weapons support for Ukraine is part of a greater package of military and security assistance to Ukraine, and could be delivered as early as next week.
