China, Russia impede UN Security Council proposal to pass sanctions against North Korea

On May 26, when the United Nations Security Council voted on a resolution proposed by the United States to “impose sanctions on North Korea over its ballistic missile launch,” China and Russia vetoed it, making it impossible to implement.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Greenfield addressed the vote as disappointing. The Council’s restraint and silence did not preclude or decrease North Korea’s threat to the world but instead fueled his arrogance. She said North Korea has carried out six ICBM missile tests this year and is preparing to launch a nuclear test. She criticized China and Russia for promoting easing sanctions against North Korea in 2017 for humanitarian reasons. Miles Guo pointed out earlier that Communist China, Russia, North Korea, Iran, and other such countries have formed an “axis of evil” to fight together against the world’s democracy and civilized nations.
