Orthodox Church Leader Of Cyprus Condemned Putin’s Invasion Of Ukraine

On Apr 12th, Archbishop Chrysostomos II of Cyprus Orthodox Church issued a statement, saying Russian President Vladimir Putin was waging a nonsensical war against the Ukrainian people.

It was learned that notwithstanding Cyprus Church’s previous close ties with Russian Orthodox Church, Chrysostomos II publicly condemned the unchristian war waged by fellow Orthodox brethren Russia gave that Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill is not only a pillar of Putin’s ruling apparatus, but has also blessed his country’s conflicts in Ukraine.

Chrysostomos II pointed out that to go and flatten another country for no reason made no sense and Putin was not behaving like a Christian. Meanwhile, he was saddened by the Ukrainian people being killed. Last week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged Cyprus to revoke passports issued to Russians and Cyprus had backed the EU’s sanctions against Russia.

Previously, Roman Catholic Pope Francis denounced Russian troops’ heinous massacres of defenseless Ukrainian civilians as well as war crimes perpetrated by Putin regime.
