Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Urges Residents in Eastern Ukraine to Evacuate

On April 6, local time, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Vereshchuk warned civilians in the eastern Ukrainian region would face death threats as Russia may assail the area, urging residents of Kharkiv, Luhansk, and Donetsk to evacuate immediately.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, thousands of civilians have been killed, and more than 11 million refugees have been displaced. Following the Russian troops’ withdrawal from the vicinity of Kyiv, Ukraine discovered the Russian forces had massacred hundreds of civilians in the town of Bucha, a tragedy that shocked international communities. U.S. President Biden strongly condemned Russian forces for brutally executing Ukrainian civilians in cold blood and dumping bodies into mass graves, atrocities witnessed by the entire world. However, the Putin regime denied it with quibbles.

According to U.S. Defense Department officials, based on intelligence, although Russia has withdrawn more than 24,000 troops from Kyiv and Chernihiv in northern Ukraine, the troops will be replenished and regrouped in Belarus and Russia to prepare for another attack on eastern Ukraine. Sources stated that the Russo-Ukraine War has fallen into a stalemate, showing no signs of ending in the short term.
