UK Health Secretary will scrap Covid passes by the end of the month

On January 13th, UK Health Secretary Sajid Javid announced to scrap off Covid passes by the end of this month.

Sajid said that after the historic peak of Omicron infection, new cases decreased by 40% within a week, and hospitalization admission has flatlined. Given the shocking data of “breakthrough’ infection, and the rapid slowdown of the pandemic, Covid passes have been well proven ineffective; and the policy will be cancelled within the next two weeks.

Besides, cabinet ministers pointed out that during the Omicron raging period, the high infectious rate and high hospitalization rate of the vaccinated, has also fully proved that the vaccine passes are not necessary. They welcomed the government’s measures to scrap Covid passes.

In the meantime, Wales’ First Minister also announced to lift Covid restrictions by the end of the month.
