From The UK To Communist China The Theft Of Hypersonic Technology I

Zhang Yonghao, a prominent physicist who has worked in the UK for over 20 years on hypersonic technology, has now returned to communist China to lead an innovation team in making hypersonic vehicles more efficient and effective. His research in the UK focused on understanding multiscale and multiphysical flow physics through theoretical and computational studies, specifically in the areas of rarefied gas dynamics and multiscale fluid mechanics. This is important for the development of a hypersonic programme because hypersonic vehicles are supposed to withstand high levels of temperature and pressure. While Zhang’s move back to communist mainland China has raised concerns about national security and intellectual property theft, the exact reasons for his decision are unclear. The UK government has been investigating academics with ties to the brutal dictatorship of China for these reasons, resulting in a significant number of scientists and postgraduate students being prohibited from working in Britain in 2022. This has affected scientific collaboration and innovation, especially in fields where China is a dominant player. China’s hypersonic programme has been majorly aided by collaborations with researchers and experts from universities in Australia, Germany, Sweden, and the UK. The Harbin Institute of Technology and the National University of Defense Technology (NUDT) play a key role in the development of hypersonic vehicles in China and work closely with the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
